Dear Friends of the Casa de los Pobres,

The need continues for staple foods in Tijuana and is ever more urgent. For daily meals and the grocery bag program (which provides food for the elderly, handicapped, and families), the Casa uses over 8,000 pounds of dried pinto beans per month!

In dollars and cents, the Casa uses $900+ of beans per week to feed 700 people per day, and provides 2 lbs. of beans each week for Bodega Day on Thursdays.

Beans are an absolute staple in the lives of the people who come to the Casa. They are high in protein and other nutrients, so your contributions make a clear impact on the well-being of many, many people.

We are asking again for your donations for our "Legumes for Lent" campaign. The Sisters will use your donations to buy beans in Tijuana, to provide the staple throughout the Easter season.
